Paedophile snared in undercover Kik Messenger police sting.

A former teacher has been sentenced to five years in prison after he was found guilty of arranging to commit sexual acts with an 11-year-old girl.

Nigel Peter Grigg, 69, communicated with an undercover police officer posing as a father willing to provide his "daughter" for sexual activities. Grigg arranged to meet the officer and his "daughter" at McDonald's in Totton, where he was arrested.

The court heard that Grigg purchased presents for the "girl," including items from Ann Summers, and had previously boasted on the messaging platform Kik about engaging in sexual activity with a 13-year-old in Thailand.

Sentencing Judge Robert Pawson described the facts of the case as "chilling reading for any parent." He deemed Grigg to be a dangerous offender and imposed a two-year extended licence period after his release.

Grigg admitted to a single charge of arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence and was also made subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and placed on the sex offenders register for life.

The case involved the collaboration of Dorset Police's Paedophile Online Investigation Team (POLIT) and the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU).
