Asked a woman to perform in an adult movie with him in exchange for buying her watch.

A married man offered a woman a watch in exchange for performing in an adult movie with him, a court heard.

Aaron Maguire, 52, went to the woman's home in Southampton after seeing her advertising a watch for sale on Facebook Marketplace. Posing as his wife using her Facebook account, he agreed to buy and collect the watch.

However, the woman was shocked when Maguire arrived at her door. Prosecutor Ed Warren described how, once inside, Maguire commented on the woman's nails and physical appearance. He asked to kiss her, which she refused.

Maguire then expressed a desire to see her body, stating he would buy the watch if she allowed him to perform a sex act on her. He even offered her £130 for the watch, adding that she could "make up the rest" by participating in an adult movie with him.

During the visit, Maguire touched the woman's arm and stated he would return the next day for the watch. After he left, the woman contacted the police, leading to Maguire's arrest.

Maguire told officers that his actions were not sexually motivated, claiming he was there to "comfort [the woman]". Mr. Warren added that Maguire had even sent the woman £10 after their encounter on December 2, 2020, stating he felt he had "wasted her time".

Appearing at Southampton Crown Court on Monday, Maguire, of Kingsfield, Bursledon, was charged with sexual assault. Defense attorney Chris Gaiger stated that Maguire "accepts full responsibility for his actions and regrets the harm he has caused," adding that there is a "realistic prospect of rehabilitation".

Judge Christopher Parker QC deemed the incident a "frightening experience for a young woman who didn't have any support on the scene". He stated, "You had visited the complainant on purpose having seen her picture on your wife's account. That by itself was predatory behaviour."

The judge concluded that the offense was so serious that an immediate custodial sentence was the only option. Maguire was sentenced to 12 months in prison and issued an indefinite restraining order.
