Convicted sex offender and suspect in an alkali attack in south London.
Police are searching for Abdul Shakoor Ezedi, 35, in connection with an alkali attack in south London that left a mother and her three-year-old daughter with potentially "life-changing" injuries.
Ezedi was last seen in north London on Wednesday evening. He was convicted of a sex offence in 2018 and later granted asylum after three attempts.
The attack occurred near Clapham Common at about 19:25 on Wednesday. The suspect, believed to be Ezedi, attempted to flee the scene in a car but crashed into a stationary vehicle and ran.
A witness described seeing Ezedi lift a young child over his head and throw her onto the ground like a "ragdoll", calling the incident a "horror movie".
The 31-year-old mother and her three-year-old daughter are hospitalized, along with her eight-year-old daughter. Five police officers and four members of the public who intervened were also injured.
Police have warned the public not to approach Ezedi and to call 999 instead.
A community worker who knows Ezedi, Azad, has appealed for him to turn himself in and seek medical attention for any injuries he may have. Azad described Ezedi as polite and respectful, and helps refugees in Newcastle where Ezedi lives.
In 2018, Ezedi was convicted of one charge of sexual assault and one of exposure. He was granted asylum in 2020 after receiving a nine-week suspended sentence for the sexual assault and a 36-week suspended sentence for the exposure.
