Rapist Jailed for Attacking Woman in Rossendale
Adrian Love, 54, has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison for raping a woman in Rossendale in June 2017. The attack occurred at a property in the area, and the victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was subjected to a horrific ordeal.
Love, of Hightown, Whitewell Bottom, had consistently denied any involvement in the crime. However, following a two-week trial at Preston Crown Court, a jury unanimously found him guilty.
Judge James Medland QC, presiding over the case, imposed the lengthy prison sentence on Love. In addition to the jail term, Love was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and pay a £170 surcharge to support victim services.
To ensure the victim's safety and prevent further contact, Judge Medland also issued an indefinite restraining order prohibiting Love from contacting the woman, either directly or indirectly.
A spokesperson for the police emphasized the seriousness of such crimes: "We take investigations into rape and sexual assault very seriously. We are committed to supporting victims and bringing perpetrators to justice."
