Serial Sex Attacker Jailed for 24 Years

A serial sex attacker who raped two women and attempted to rape a teenage girl has been sentenced to 24 years in prison. Alex King, now 27, carried out his latest attack in September 2023 when he offered help to a teenage girl whose car had broken down. He lured her into his vehicle, claiming to take her home, but instead subjected her to a terrifying ordeal of rape and threats.

King ultimately released the teenager, who managed to flag down a member of the public who contacted the police. In an attempt to deflect blame, King called the police himself shortly after, falsely alleging that the girl had attempted to blackmail him. This fabricated story quickly unraveled as investigations linked the two incidents.

King was apprehended at his home in Dudley Drive, Littleover, Derby. Forensic analysis and witness testimonies revealed striking similarities between this case and an earlier attempt by King to abduct a teenage girl in Chain Lane, Littleover, just weeks prior. He had been captured on his own doorbell camera leaving his residence during the timeframe of the attempted abduction.

Further investigations, prompted by concerns that King may be responsible for other offenses, revealed a connection between him and a rape reported in Newark in September 2019. Initially, charges were not filed in this case; however, when the victim was contacted again, she confirmed that King was her attacker.

King ultimately pleaded guilty to four counts of rape relating to the September 2023 incident, one count of attempted rape for the August attack, and one count of rape for the 2019 incident. He was sentenced to 24 years in prison with an extended licence period of six years at Derby Crown Court on February 24th, 2025. King will remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
