Swindon Man Jailed for Possessing Over 500 Indecent Images of Children

A Swindon man has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison after being found with more than 500 indecent images of children.

Alun Eric Topp, 48, of Bexley Walk, Park South, was sentenced at Swindon Crown Court on February 3 to 32 months imprisonment. He pleaded guilty to making and distributing indecent images of children and possession of extreme pornographic images.

Wiltshire Police initially received information suggesting that a Twitter account linked to a phone number believed to belong to Topp had uploaded indecent images online. Officers promptly visited Topp's residence and arrested him.

Detective Constable Justine Parsons, from Wiltshire Police's Child Internet Exploitation Team, stated: "Upon Topp's arrest, a search of his home uncovered 11 media devices, which were seized for further examination. One of these devices contained illegal material. After extensive investigations, a total of 542 category A images were discovered – these depict the most severe forms of child abuse."
