Salford Man Jailed for Non-Recent Child Sexual Abuse

Andrew Austin (03/11/1967), of Sumner Road, Irlam o'th Heights, was sentenced yesterday (Monday 29 July 2019) at Manchester Crown Court to 26 years in prison. He previously pleaded guilty to child sexual abuse charges. He will also have to sign the sex offenders register for life.

Between 1998 and 2004, at multiple locations in Salford, Austin sexually abused four victims who were aged between eight and 16 at the time.

In August 2018, relatives of one of the victims, along with a charity worker, came forward to police. A full investigation was launched, leading to Austin's arrest.

During police interview, Austin initially denied all offenses. However, he admitted his crimes before the case went to trial.
