Man Jailed for Sexual Offences Against Children
A man from Crewe has been jailed after admitting to engaging in sexual activity with children.
Andrew Cork, 53, of Verdin Court, Leighton, appeared at Chester Crown Court on Friday, March 1st, where he was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
Cork had previously pleaded guilty to:
- Two counts of engaging in sexual communications with a child
- Two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity (no penetration)
- One count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
- One count of possession of indecent images of children
- Three counts of making indecent images of children
The case against Cork began in May 2022 when officers from Norfolk Police contacted Cheshire Police to report that a man had been engaging in sexual communications with a 9-year-old child in Norfolk.
The man was using a mobile phone number that placed him in the Crewe area. The Online Child Abuse Investigation Team (OCAIT) at Cheshire Police conducted the investigation and identified Cork as the suspect.
On Thursday, July 14th, a warrant was executed at Cork's home, and he was arrested. Several electronic devices, including a laptop and two mobile phones, were seized.
During questioning, Cork admitted to engaging in sexually explicit communications with the child in Norfolk. He also acknowledged the presence of indecent images of children on his devices but denied being sexually attracted to children.
Cork was released on bail while further enquiries were undertaken, including analysis of his electronic devices. The analysis revealed over 300 indecent images of children and more than 60 sexually explicit videos of children.
Investigators also discovered that Cork had been engaging in sexual communications with an 11-year-old child in Birmingham.
Cork was subsequently charged with all the offenses.
