Wirral Man Jailed for Possessing Child Sexual Abuse Images
A Wirral man has been sentenced to three years and 11 months in prison for breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and possessing child sexual abuse images.
Andrew Davies, 52, of Mill Lane in Wallasey, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, 27 October. The court heard that in November of last year, officers conducted a routine visit to Davies' home as part of the Sexual Harm Prevention Order imposed on him. During the visit, Davies admitted using social media, which is a breach of his order.
Officers seized Davies' electronic devices and found 133 prohibited and distressing images of children of a sexual nature. Davies was found guilty of all 133 charges related to the images and nine breaches of the Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Detective Inspector Steven O'Neill, from the Sex Offender Unit, said: "Davies attempted to evade guilt by falsely accusing his family members of downloading the images onto his device. This was a blatant attempt to avoid responsibility for his actions."
The Sex Offender Unit ensures that sex offenders living in the community are closely monitored and held accountable for their crimes.
