Andrew Grant Sentenced for Multiple Child Sexual Offences

A man has been sentenced to over four years in prison for child sexual offences. Andrew Grant, 58, of Queen Street, Bampton, Oxfordshire, was convicted of multiple charges at Oxford Crown Court on Friday, November 29, 2023.

Grant received a 54-month prison sentence for the following offences:

• Attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child under the age of 16
• Being an adult attempting to meet a girl following grooming
• Arranging or facilitating sexual activity with a child
• Driving without third-party insurance

The offences occurred between November 22, 2022, and February 18, 2023, in Eynsham and Oxford. Grant was accused of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a 14-year-old girl and arranging to meet her at Oxford Train Station after grooming.

The driving offence took place on February 18, 2023, in Park End Street, Oxford, involving a Nissan X Trail. In addition to his prison sentence, Grant was given six penalty points on his driving licence for the driving offence.

The court also imposed the following restrictions:

• An indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order
• Indefinite registration as a sex offender
• A lifelong ban from working with children and vulnerable people
