Numerous convictions for sexually assaulting children under 13, possessing indecent images of children and voyeurism.

A paedophile was jailed for eight years after a hidden camera he installed in the toilets at an Air Training Corps (ATC) centre was discovered.

Andrew Thompson, 32, from Great Sankey, Warrington, pleaded guilty to 33 offences including sexually abusing several boys and possessing thousands of indecent images of children.

The camera, found in July 2022, contained footage of Thompson installing it as well as images of children. Police investigations uncovered further devices containing images, some taken at the ATC centre and a school where Thompson worked as a teaching assistant.

Officers interviewed children known to Thompson, some of whom revealed he had sexually assaulted them. Thompson was arrested in December 2022 and charged in September 2023.

In court, Thompson admitted to nine counts of sexually assaulting a child under 13, 19 counts of voyeurism, two counts of making (downloading) indecent images, two counts of creating indecent images, and one count of possessing indecent images.

In addition to his prison sentence, Thompson was placed on the sex offenders' register for life, subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), and handed restraining orders prohibiting him from contacting his victims.

Cheshire Police Det Insp Simon Mills described Thompson as a "sexual predator" who "abused his position" and had "no regards for his victims, his only concern was to fulfil his own sexual gratification."
