Former football coach found guilty of sexually abusing a boy more than 40 years ago.

Former Football Coach Jailed for Sexually Abusing Boy

Anthony Pickering, 62, has been jailed for 13 years after being found guilty of sexually abusing a boy over 40 years ago.

Pickering, who was previously jailed in 2018 for similar offences committed while coaching a youth football team in Windermere, was convicted of attempted rape and two counts of indecent assault on a boy.

The latest victim, who was abused in the 1970s and 80s, came forward after the 2018 prosecution.

Pickering denied the charges at Carlisle Crown Court but was found guilty by a jury.

He has been placed on the sex offenders register for life.
