Sex Offender Jailed for Breaching Orders

A sex offender who previously groomed and seduced a schoolgirl was caught by police living in the same house as children.

Antony Bailey, 27, was jailed in 2017 for sexual activity with a child and causing or inciting prostitution or pornography involving a child. He was also placed on the sex offenders' register and made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) that prohibited him from accessing the internet without notifying authorities.

However, Bailey breached both orders by staying at his partner's home in Abbey Hulton with her children and using Snapchat. He was arrested in September 2023 after police and an offender manager carried out an unannounced visit to his address.

The court heard that Bailey had not disclosed his internet usage to the police and had been living with his partner and her children for several months. His partner was unaware of the nature of his convictions and believed they were for violence.

Bailey pleaded guilty to three charges of breaching a SHPO and three charges of failing to comply with the notification requirements of the sex offenders' register.

Judge Graeme Smith sentenced Bailey to 18 months in prison, stating that there was a significant risk to the children despite no evidence of harm caused.

The judge also made a deprivation order for Bailey's phone.
