Paedophile downloaded a manual on how to sexually abuse babies and accessed nearly 6,000 indecent images of children online.

A 21-year-old man from Newham, Arif Azad, has been sentenced to four years in prison for downloading a manual on child sexual abuse and possessing nearly 6,000 indecent images of children.

Police began investigating Azad in March 2023 and discovered that of the 6,000 indecent images, 3,500 were in the most extreme category. The investigation also revealed that Azad had been communicating with an unknown child online, who sent him some of the images.

Azad pleaded guilty to the charges on October 25, 2023 at Snaresbrook Crown Court. He was sentenced on April 19th to four years' imprisonment – two years for making, distributing and possessing indecent images and another two for engaging in sexual communication with a child.

Azad will be subject to Sex Offender Notification Requirements for life and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for ten years.
