Man Pleasures Himself in Public, Urinates in Police Van After Arrest

Artur Wieladek, 42, was found guilty of criminal damage and outraging public decency after he was caught pleasuring himself in Totton Precinct in June 2022. The incident occurred in broad daylight, with witnesses, including children, present.

According to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Wieladek was spotted leaning against railings, facing the public toilets, and touching himself for approximately ten seconds. He then proceeded to get dressed and walk over to a bench before being arrested.

After his arrest, Wieladek urinated "all over the floor" of the police van, forcing authorities to professionally clean the vehicle before it could be used again.

In court, Wieladek initially denied pleasuring himself, claiming he was simply urinating. However, the magistrates found the CPS had presented sufficient evidence to prove his guilt.

"It was early on a Saturday morning and there were people around. Those people could have been badly affected by the incident, including children," the prosecutor stated. "Onlookers were concerned that the defendant's behavior could escalate."

Wieladek's defense attorney, Barry Keel, argued that his client, a forklift driver in Lymington, is committed to being a "constructive member of the community." He emphasized that Wieladek regrets his actions and is seeking to put this incident behind him.

Despite his remorse, Wieladek was unable to provide a clear explanation for his behavior on the day of the incident. Magistrate Gillian Norris ultimately sentenced him to a 12-month community order, which includes 80 hours of unpaid work, 15 rehabilitation days, and court costs totaling £180.
