Man Jailed for Sexual Assault of Young Girl in Wisbech

Arturas Opulskis, 41, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for sexually assaulting a young girl in Wisbech between 2016 and 2018.

The assault came to light in 2021 when the victim confided in a trusted adult after telling a friend about the abuse.

Police were contacted and Opulskis, who has no fixed abode, was arrested. He denied any involvement in the sexual assault.

In September 2023, Opulskis was found guilty of assaulting a girl under 13 by penetration following a trial at Peterborough Crown Court. The jury reached a unanimous verdict.

On Friday, February 9, 2023, Opulskis was sentenced to eight years in prison at the same court.
