Paedophile wanted sex with girl, 13, in her mum's bed.
Paedophile Sentenced for Attempted Child Sex Offence
A paedophile, identified as Barry Wiley (53), has been sentenced to three years and nine months in prison for attempting to arrange a sexual encounter with a 13-year-old girl. The incident took place in July 2020, when Wiley, using the online alias "TheQuietMan69," initiated communication with a decoy profile created by the paedophile hunter group Elusive Child Protection Unit.
Wiley bombarded the decoy, who he believed to be a girl named "Maddison," with sexually explicit messages and images. He offered to travel to the girl's home in Rochdale while her mother was out, despite the fact that "Maddison" had expressed fear. Wiley's attempt to meet with the decoy in Liverpool was thwarted when he was apprehended at a snooker club by police.
During his trial, Wiley admitted to attempting sexual communication with a child, attempting to cause a child to look at sexual activity, and attempting to arrange a child sex offence. However, he later tried to withdraw his guilty plea, which was ultimately rejected by the court.
In sentencing, Judge Louise Brandon highlighted Wiley's continued denial of the offences and his lack of remorse. She stated that he posed a danger to children and sentenced him to prison, also requiring him to register as a sex offender and comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order indefinitely.
