Child rapist committed horrific sex attacks on ten youngsters

A prolific sex offender, Benjamin Young, has been found guilty of abusing 10 children, including raping one of them multiple times. The 42-year-old cook was apprehended by the National Crime Agency after they discovered him exchanging indecent images with a fellow pedophile in Denmark.

Young's home was subsequently raided, and police seized two mobile phones containing almost 20,000 indecent images and videos. Shockingly, the court heard that one child had been raped 26 times by Young.

Young, who had no prior criminal record, pleaded guilty to 32 charges, including rape, multiple sexual assaults, and possession, taking, and distribution of indecent images. The judge described Young's actions as "plumbing the depths of depravity."

The offenses took place between January 2021 and December 2022, mainly in Argyll and Bute. Prosecutor Kath Harper stated, "This case involves extensive and prolonged sexual offending by Young against 10 children - all aged under 13 years - and one adult."

Young also admitted to sexually assaulting a woman while she was sleeping and recording her in a "voyeuristic manner." Families of the young victims were present in court to witness Young's confession.

Lord Arthurson, the presiding judge, remanded Young in custody and adjourned the case until March 19, 2024, in Edinburgh. He expressed that some cases are beyond words to describe the severity of the crimes.

Detective Inspector Adrian Ure from the National Child Abuse Investigation Unit, Police Scotland, stated, "Benjamin Young is a sexual predator who manipulated and abused defenseless young children for his own sexual gratification. The nature of his offending, which included multiple serious sexual assaults, was truly horrific." Ure commended the long and complex investigation that led to Young's arrest and highlighted the global impact of Young's actions through his involvement in sharing child sexual abuse material online.

Young showed no emotion as he was taken into custody. His sentencing is scheduled for March 19, 2024.
