Former Burton gym instructor jailed for raping woman three times

Braden Rae, 44, pleaded guilty to three counts of rape at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Thursday, June 11. The court heard that Rae, who previously worked as a gym instructor in Burton and now resides in Derbyshire, raped his victim twice in 2014 and once in 2015.

The victim later confided in a friend and subsequently reported the incidents to the police.

Rae, of Lace Maker's Close, Borrowash, Derbyshire, was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Detective Constable Amy Gathergood of Staffordshire Police commented: "The bravery of the witness in coming forward to the police has led to Braden Rae's jail term. We will always do whatever it takes to bring offenders to justice, while ensuring victims and their families are offered the support they need."
