Pensioner Sentenced for Indecent Exposure
An 87-year-old pensioner has been sentenced for indecently exposing himself to two teenagers in a New Forest park.
Brian Curtis, of Hampton Lane in Blackfield, followed the boys, aged 11 and 13, after they asked him for a selfie. He then exposed himself and told the boys to do the same.
Southampton Crown Court heard how the boys had been playing in the park with their friends when they encountered Curtis. After they left the park, Curtis asked the boys if he should follow them, with one boy replying no but another jokingly saying yes.
The boys became concerned when Curtis did follow them and eventually stopped a woman in the street for help. When they returned to see if he was still there, Curtis told them to put their cameras away and then exposed himself.
He told the boys they "had to do the same", leaving them distressed and prompting them to seek further help from another passerby.
In court, Curtis claimed he had been "tricked", but Judge Brian Forster KC dismissed this, stating that there was "no justification" for his actions.
Curtis was given a 15-month suspended prison sentence, ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years, and banned from returning to the park for two years.
