High School teacher caught viewing child porn after release from jail.

Former Morecambe High School Teacher Jailed Again for Child Abuse Images

Brian Rafferty, a former English teacher at Morecambe High School, has been jailed for a second time after being caught viewing child abuse images. Rafferty was initially imprisoned in 2015 after being found with 2,000 indecent photos and extreme pornography.

He was suspended from his teaching position at Morecambe High School when the allegations surfaced, and his contract was subsequently terminated when he was sentenced to 16 months in prison at Preston Crown Court.

Authorities conducted a check of Rafferty's computer equipment following his release from prison, uncovering online search terms related to child abuse material. Despite deleting his browsing history, police discovered nine images of child abuse.

Rafferty, now 58, pleaded guilty to three charges of making indecent images of children and one count of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order by deleting his internet history.

At Bristol Crown Court, Judge Martin Picton sentenced Rafferty to 14 months in prison. Rafferty, who is prohibited from working with children and vulnerable adults, was also ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years.

The court heard that two images found on Rafferty's laptop were classified as Category C, the lowest level of concern. His tablet device contained one image deemed to be in Category A and six images in Category B.

In 2015, Rafferty was sentenced to 16 months in prison at Preston Crown Court after pleading guilty to seven offences related to indecent images of children and animals. Police had found hundreds of images during a raid on his home. Rafferty, who had taught for over 20 years, was suspended from Morecambe High School and subsequently dismissed.
