Chleo Sunter Secretly Recorded Men Using Toilets: Sex Offender Jailed

Chleo Sunter, a registered sex offender, was sentenced to 26 months in prison for secretly recording men using public restrooms.

Sunter, formerly known as John Leslie Graham, admitted to two counts of voyeurism, capturing 790 images and 15 videos of men in toilet cubicles and at urinals. The incidents occurred in the men's restrooms at an Aldi supermarket, a shopping center in Middlesbrough, and Darlington Train Station between January and November 2023.

This offense violates a sexual harm prevention order imposed on Sunter after convictions for sexual assault in 2012 and possession of extreme pornography in 2014. She has a history of breaching this order, including using aliases on dating sites.

Police discovered the illicit material during a routine check at her home in Thornaby, where they also found evidence of Sunter deleting communications and browsing data from a gay dating app. She admitted to using her phone in incognito mode to conceal her internet activity.

Sunter's defense attorney argued for a community order due to her history of alcohol abuse, lack of access to technology, and the challenges she would face upon release if imprisoned. However, Judge Geoffrey Marson acknowledged Sunter's vulnerabilities but stated that they did not mitigate the severity of her offenses.
