Child sex offender could be jailed again after breaching court order.
Child Sex Offender Faces Potential Imprisonment for Breaching Court Order
Chrissena Lamar, 69, could face another spell behind bars after breaching a court order imposed in 2017. Lamar, who was previously convicted of sexual activity with a child under 14 and sentenced to a year in prison, was required to comply with specific conditions as part of the Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
These conditions included registering as a sex offender and signing in at a police station annually. However, Lamar failed to check in with officers in Dover on March 28, resulting in a breach of the SHPO.
This was not Lamar's first instance of non-compliance. In a previous incident, Lamar was found in possession of a mobile phone that had not been reported to the police.
Lamar's solicitor, James Langridge, argued that his client, whom he consistently referred to as "she" throughout the hearing, suffers from mental health issues and had previously undergone extended hospital treatment. While acknowledging Lamar's failure to complete the annual registration in March, Langridge suggested a fine as a suitable resolution.
Deputy District Judge Claire Luxford, presiding over the hearing at Folkestone Magistrates on July 31, declined to immediately sentence Lamar. Instead, she ordered a pre-sentence report from probation, stating that all possible punishments would be considered.
Addressing the defendant, Judge Luxford emphasized the seriousness of the offense, noting its aggravation by previous convictions. She instructed that the report should include the option of sentencing at Canterbury Crown Court.
Lamar, residing at Park Street, Dover, was granted bail and is scheduled to appear at Folkestone Magistrates Court on October 3 for further proceedings.
