Pervert claimed he downloaded indecent images accidentally with Marvel film.

A man has been found guilty of making indecent images of children after claiming he accidentally downloaded them while trying to get a Marvel film.

Christopher Dyne, a software worker from Killingworth, North Tyneside, was convicted by a jury at Newcastle Crown Court. Police discovered dozens of indecent images and videos on his devices during a search of his home in August 2018.

Dyne initially claimed that the images appeared accidentally while downloading the film "Thor". However, the prosecution presented evidence that the images were stored in distinct files, separate from any movie downloads.

Prosecutor Elizabeth Muir stated, "There was no evidence of the film Thor having been downloaded at any time."

Dyne also attempted to explain the presence of images on multiple hard drives by claiming he had cloned them, but he couldn't account for additional material found on one of the drives.

The 40-year-old, who had no prior convictions, was found guilty of eight offenses related to making indecent images of children. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, with 140 hours of unpaid work.

Dyne was also required to register as a sex offender for ten years and comply with a sexual harm prevention order for the same duration.

His defense attorney, Tony Cornberg, highlighted Dyne's good character and employment history, emphasizing that he had lost his job the day after the conviction.

Cornberg stated, "He has become, in his words, a financial burden on his mother and someone who feels worthless. The police displayed his conviction on their Facebook page shortly afterwards and it's caused him a great deal of shame."
