Isle of Wight Man Jailed for Sexual Assaults

Christopher Peach, 61, of Queens Court, East Cowes, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for two counts of sexual assault against a woman.

Peach initially denied the charges but changed his plea in August. The court heard the first assault occurred on November 22, 2019, and the second between May 1, 2020, and September 30, 2020.

A statement from the victim revealed the significant impact the assaults had on her life. She described reliving the incidents daily, suffering from nightmares, and experiencing social withdrawal and fear of leaving her home.

The court heard that Peach used the victim's fragile mental state to try and elicit sex from her, resulting in "a prolonged and sustained campaign" of abuse. The victim stated the mental and emotional scars were still raw.

In the first assault, Peach grabbed the victim's breast. In the second, he pinned her to the floor and forcibly kissed her.

In addition to the prison sentence, Peach was issued a ten-year restraining order, ordered to pay a £149 surcharge, and placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for ten years.
