Registered sex offender accused of installing a private web browser and deleting the internet history from a device.

Registered Sex Offender Accused of Tampering with Devices

Christopher Topliss, 35, appeared in Workington Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, facing four charges of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and one charge of failing to comply with notification requirements of the Sex Offenders' Register.

Topliss is alleged to have installed a private browser on three occasions between February and March 2022. He is also accused of deleting internet history from a device in his possession by installing and uninstalling numerous applications and their contents on or before June 15, 2023.

Furthermore, Topliss is accused of failing to declare numerous aliases to police within three days, a requirement for registered sex offenders.

Topliss, of Ennerdale Road, Cleator Moor, did not enter any pleas during the court appearance. The case was sent to Carlisle Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on August 25.
