Woman Jailed for Sending Child Abuse Images After Job Promise
Claire Kelly, 36, of Brandon, has been sentenced to over three years in prison for distributing and taking indecent images of a child. The court heard that Kelly had sent naked pictures of a child to a man she met online, 'Craig Mwah', after he promised her a job.
Kelly, who was in a state of mental distress and financial hardship at the time, was contacted via the Kik messenger app by 'Craig Mwah' and another individual named 'Harry', whom she believed to be 'Craig's' son.
Police discovered conversations between Kelly and 'Craig Mwah' that included discussions about sexually abusing a child. Kelly also admitted to taking indecent images of the child.
The court heard that 'Craig' promised Kelly a job with his company as a personal assistant with a salary of £35,000 per year. When Kelly questioned the job offer, both 'Craig' and 'Harry' ceased contact, and police have been unable to locate them.
Kelly's defense attorney argued that she was struggling with depression and financial difficulties following her divorce, leading to a downward spiral. Kelly expressed remorse for her actions.
Judge Emma Peters sentenced Kelly to a total of three years and two months in prison. Kelly was also ordered to sign the sex offenders' register indefinitely and subject to a sexual harm prevention order, also indefinite.
