Husband and Wife Jailed for Child Sex Offenses

A husband and wife have been sentenced to a combined total of 28 years in prison for non-recent child sex offenses against three victims.

Claire Moores (born March 15, 1977) was sentenced to 13 years, while her husband, Craig Moores (born July 25, 1971), received 15 years at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.

The couple, from the Stockport area, were arrested in August 2020 and found guilty at trial of 15 charges related to offenses against two girls between 2002 and 2008.

Craig Moores faced charges of indecent assault, sexual activity with a girl under 18, and indecency with a child. Claire Moores was charged with indecent assault.

The couple were jointly charged with engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, sexual activity with a child, indecent assault, and cruelty to a person under the age of 16.

They were also charged with causing a boy under the age of 15 to engage in sexual activity and administering a substance to stupefy for sexual activity but were found not guilty of these charges.

Police were alerted in May 2019 to reports of non-recent sexual offenses involving two girls in Stockport. The court heard that the girls, who remain unnamed due to legal reasons, reported being given substances before being sexually abused by the couple.

A third victim was exposed to controlled drugs and sexual activity in their presence.
