Man Jailed for Rape and Abuse of Young Girl
Connor Greer, 22, has been sentenced to three years and four months in prison for the rape and abuse of a young girl.
Greer pleaded guilty to charges of rape and lewd and libidinous conduct, which occurred between 2003 and 2011 at various locations in Glasgow.
The High Court in Glasgow heard that Greer began abusing the girl when she was just seven years old and raped her when she was 14 or 15.
The victim eventually disclosed the abuse to a friend, who then alerted a teacher, leading to police involvement.
In sentencing Greer, Lord Turnbull stated, "It is obvious that your conduct caused enormous stress on the young victim in her teenage years. It is also obvious that the conduct is of such a serious nature and harmful form that a custodial sentence is the only disposal."
The court heard that the attacks took place repeatedly at houses in Glasgow's southside area, often at night. The victim did not initially disclose the abuse but eventually confided in a friend in 2012.
Greer's defense counsel, Euan Dow, stated that Greer was "unable to provide any explanation" for his actions.
At a previous hearing, Greer was also placed on the sex offenders' register.
