Convicted Rapist Jailed for 15 Years After Lying About Duress

A 48-year-old man, Dalvir Singh from Sandwell, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for rape and sexual abuse.

Singh was investigated by West Midlands Police's Public Protection Unit after a young woman disclosed the abuse she had suffered to her GP.

While admitting to having sex with the woman "on more than one occasion," Singh falsely claimed that he acted "under duress."

The courageous woman's video-recorded interview was crucial in securing the conviction, according to police.

Singh was found guilty at an earlier hearing and sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Tuesday, February 6.
