Former Pub Chef Jailed for Failing to Register with Police

Dan Whitlock, a 36-year-old former pub chef and convicted sex offender, has been jailed for failing to notify police of his whereabouts for the third time.

Whitlock was originally given a Community Order in November 2010 for two offenses of sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16. As part of his sentence, he was required to register with the police and notify them of his address.

However, on October 20, officers visited Whitlock's last known address, The Vine Inn in Romsey, and he refused to present himself. This marked the third time he had failed to comply with the requirements of his sexual harm prevention order.

Whitlock appeared at Southampton Crown Court on Wednesday, where he pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the notifications of a sexual harm prevention order and breaching a suspended sentence.

His defense attorney, Berenice Mulvanny, argued that Whitlock did not breach his order to commit further offenses but rather "stuck his head in the sand." Despite this, Whitlock was sentenced to ten months in prison.
