Sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.

A 24-year-old man has been sentenced to 38 months in prison for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.

Daniel Birch, of Overton Way, Acton, Wrexham, pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child.

The court heard that the girl had been drinking vodka and wine at a party in a quarry and was unable to walk or speak properly. Birch took advantage of her vulnerability and had unprotected sex with her.

The girl's mother had thought she was going to a barbecue but she had joined a Snapchat group who arranged the party.

Birch had brought alcohol and drugs to the party and was aware of the girl's age.

The victim's friend alerted her mother after receiving a missed call and text messages from the girl suggesting something had happened.

Birch initially denied any sexual contact but was proven wrong by forensic evidence.

The judge issued a sexual harm prevention order and Birch must register as a sex offender.
