Aberdeen Man Jailed for Eight Years for Multiple Rapes and Indecent Assault

David Cruickshank, 30, has been sentenced to eight years and nine months in prison for three rapes and an indecent assault. He admitted to one rape and was found guilty of the other two. Cruickshank also admitted to sexually assaulting an 18-year-old while she was having an epileptic fit.

The crimes, which involved four different young victims, took place between 1999 and 2000. Cruickshank's first victim was a 12-year-old girl. He was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh, where Lord Uist described the seriousness of the crimes as "self-evident."

Lord Uist acknowledged Cruickshank's troubled upbringing and diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder, stating that while these factors did not negate his criminal responsibility, they could explain his lack of remorse.

The unemployed Cruickshank, formerly of Balnagask Wynd, Torry, was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
