David Houghton Jailed for 16 Years for Rape and Sexual Assault of a Child

David Houghton has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for rape, sexual assault, and causing a child under 13 to watch an image of sexual activity.

Houghton (46), from Milton Close, Stretford, was found guilty following a trial at Manchester Crown Court. The offenses occurred between 2013 and 2019 in the Trafford area. Houghton abused his position of trust with his victim, who was approximately nine years old when the abuse began. He threatened the girl to prevent her from disclosing the abuse. A teenage girl bravely came forward in 2019, leading to Houghton's arrest and subsequent conviction. He will also be required to sign the sex offender register for life.
