David Valentine Sentenced to 9 Years for Sexually Assaulting Girls

David Valentine, a 57-year-old resident of Hambledon Road, Denmead, was sentenced to nine years imprisonment on Friday, February 7th, 2025, at Portsmouth Crown Court.

Valentine's conviction stems from a Hampshire and Isle of Wight police investigation into child sex offences. He was found guilty by a jury following a six-day trial on charges of indecent assault, assault of a child under 13 by penetration, and two counts of assault by penetration.

During the trial, the court heard harrowing details of Valentine's abuse against two young girls. He sexually assaulted one girl in Havant multiple times between 2012 and 2021 when she was between the ages of six and thirteen. Additionally, he committed sexual assault against another girl in Hedge End in 2003 when she was between ten and eleven years old.

The judge presiding over the case described Valentine as "particularly remorseless" and stated that his actions had "demolished [the victims'] sense of safety and privacy." The judge further characterized Valentine's behavior as objectifying the victims' bodies and classified him as dangerous.

Police Staff Investigator Samantha Nother from the Eastern Child Abuse Investigation Team commended the bravery of the victims who came forward, stating: "It is because of their inspirational bravery that we have been able to hold him to account for his actions and for him to receive a significant and appropriate custodial sentence."

Investigator Nother emphasized that regardless of when abuse is reported, Hampshire Constabulary takes all disclosures seriously and without judgment.
