Sheffield Man Sentenced for Sexual Offences Against Teenager

Dean Holloway, 60, formerly of Balmoral Road, Woodhouse, Sheffield, was sentenced to four years in prison at Sheffield Crown Court on November 4th for sexual offences against a child.

Holloway pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault and two counts of attempted rape against a young teenager in the 1990s. The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was a teenager at the time of the offences.

Prosecuting barrister Nicola Quinney stated that the offences took place over a short period of time. Ian Goldsack, defending Holloway, emphasized that the attempted rapes were unsuccessful due to Holloway's lack of physical arousal. Goldsack explained that Holloway acknowledged the wrongfulness of his actions and expressed remorse for his behavior.

Goldsack described Holloway as a hard-working man with no prior criminal record. He presented numerous positive testimonials from Holloway's family and friends, highlighting his character and standing in the community.

Judge Peter Kelson QC acknowledged Holloway's remorse and the positive testimonials, recognizing him as a respected family member. The judge also commended Holloway for his early guilty pleas, which spared the victim the ordeal of a trial.

Holloway, now residing at Kingsley Road, Stafford, was sentenced to four years in custody.
