Coventry Man Jailed for 15 Years for Child Abuse

Derry Tift, 49, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually abusing three young girls between 2001 and 2013. He pleaded guilty to 16 counts of sexual offences against the children and three counts of making indecent images of children at an earlier hearing at Warwick Crown Court.

The investigation began when officers from the Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team executed a warrant at Tift's home based on intelligence suggesting he was accessing indecent images of children online.

Following the warrant, a survivor of Tift's abuse courageously came forward to report her ordeal. Her bravery inspired two other survivors to come forward and share their experiences.

During the investigation, officers seized Tift's computer and devices, discovering hundreds of indecent images of children.

Tift was sentenced on Monday, June 24 at Warwick Crown Court and has been issued an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
