Fake 'taxi driver' sexually assaulted a woman passenger.

Security Guard Jailed for Seven Years for Sexual Assault

A 53-year-old security guard who worked for celebrities including One Direction, Stacey Solomon, and Tulisa has been jailed for seven years for sexually assaulting a 24-year-old woman.

The victim, who had been out with friends in York city centre, told York Crown Court that she believed her drink had been spiked. She felt "mangy and totally out of it" as she left the club, Vudu.

Dominic Spiteri, 53, approached her, claiming to be a taxi driver and offering her a ride home at a discounted rate. Once alone in his vehicle, he began molesting her and took her to a secluded layby in the countryside, where he sexually assaulted her.

The victim, who was in a highly intoxicated state, said she was unable to stop Spiteri despite repeatedly saying "no". She experienced pain for days after the attack.

Spiteri, who worked as a doorman at city centre clubs, denied claiming to be a taxi driver or spiking her drink. He alleged that the victim had initiated sexual contact and had flirted with him in the car.

After a four-day trial, the jury convicted Spiteri of sexual assault. The victim, who had suffered significant psychological harm, cried as the verdict was read.

In a personal statement, the victim described feeling violated and struggling to trust men after the attack. She said she now avoids being alone with any man.

Judge Simon Batiste said Spiteri had taken advantage of the victim's vulnerability due to her intoxicated state.

"You have not shown one shred of remorse for your behaviour. This was a horrible attack," the judge said.

Spiteri was sentenced to seven years in prison and given a lifelong sexual harm prevention order, prohibiting him from being alone with a woman in a car or contacting the victim.

The victim's initial reluctance to go to the police due to a previous negative experience with a different case was highlighted during the trial.

The jury heard that the original police officer assigned to the case had been removed and that a second officer had gathered the evidence against Spiteri.
