Sick paedophile sent disgusting photos to 11-year-old girl on secret phone.
Convicted sex offender sentenced to 12 years for targeting young girl
Edwin Swallow, 55, was sentenced to seven years in prison with a five-year extended licence after pleading guilty to multiple offenses related to his exploitation of a young girl.
Swallow, of Sullivan Grove in South Kirkby, was found to have targeted the youngster, encouraging her to send sexually explicit photos of herself and sending explicit photos of himself to her via a messaging app.
Despite being under a court order to inform police of any mobile phone he was using, Swallow had kept his Samsung device secret, violating the terms of his sexual harm prevention order.
The victim's mother contacted police after discovering the abuse, but Swallow attempted to destroy the evidence by smashing his phone and deleting the images.
In court, Prosecutor Abigail Langford highlighted the severity of the crime, stating, "The prosecution's case is based on descriptions as the images do not exist."
Swallow's defense attorney, Michael Collins, acknowledged his client's remorse but emphasized the bleakness of his personal circumstances, including isolation, financial struggles, and limited contact with his children.
Recorder Jason Pitter, presiding over the case, expressed concern about Swallow's high risk of reoffending, stating, "You are someone who targets young girls. Your previous convictions set that out. Your determination to fulfil, as you see them, your sexual desires are illustrated in this case despite the barrier put in place to prevent this very activity."
Swallow's sentence reflects the seriousness of his crimes and the significant danger he poses to children.
