Southampton Man Sentenced to 13 Years in Prison for Sexual Assault and Coercive Behavior
Elvis Williams, 63, of Mosaic Close in Southampton, was sentenced to 13 years in prison at Southampton Crown Court on Tuesday, January 2nd. He was convicted of multiple offenses against a woman in her 60s.
Williams had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of assault but denied charges of coercive and controlling behaviour, rape, and intentional strangulation. Following a five-day trial at Southampton Crown Court on Friday, July 28th, a jury found him guilty of all remaining charges.
The court heard that on Saturday, March 4th, the victim fled her home and sought assistance from a nearby dog walker after being assaulted by Williams. She reported to police that Williams had punched her repeatedly and forced her to have sex with him. The victim also alleged that Williams had previously strangled her to the point of unconsciousness.
Following the victim's report, officers arrested Williams. He was subsequently charged with rape, intentional strangulation, engaging in controlling/coercive behaviour, and two counts of assault.
