Two Men Jailed for Rape: Evaristus Akerele and Shuaib Iboko-Akoh

Two men were jailed for raping a woman in Liverpool city center.

The charges stemmed from an incident in the early hours of April 20, 2024, where a woman was raped inside a property. The victim promptly reported the assault, leading to swift action by officers who identified the location of the crime and arrested both men within hours.

During their bail period, investigators accessed the suspects' mobile phones and discovered intimate videos of the woman on both devices. These videos appeared to have been recorded without her knowledge or consent.

Despite denying the allegations, Shuaib Iboko-Akoh, 24, formerly of Harrington Street, Liverpool, and Evaristus Ozumizi Akerele, 25, from Luton, were found guilty of rape and voyeurism following a trial in January.

On February 6, 2025, both men were sentenced to seven years in prison at Liverpool Crown Court. They were also ordered to register as sex offenders for life.
