Musician Jailed for Rape of 13-Year-Old Girl

Everton Grossett, a 38-year-old music producer and sound engineer, has been sentenced to six years and eight months in prison for raping a 13-year-old girl on her birthday.

Grossett, who is registered as a director on three music companies and is featured in music videos online, was convicted by a jury at Inner London Crown Court in July. He was found guilty of rape, one count of indecent assault, and another count of indecent assault in relation to five separate incidents.

The court heard that Grossett sexually assaulted the victim on multiple occasions, telling her to "be quiet" during the abuse and bribing her with money for sweets. He also raped the victim, causing her to bleed. The victim confided in her sister about the abuse, leading to Grossett's arrest.

In her impact statement, the victim described the devastating impact of the abuse, stating that she had been "happy and confident" before the abuse began. She also expressed the difficulty she faced in coming forward, saying, "It took me a long time to tell anyone. I carried it with me, and only me."

During the trial, Grossett's defense counsel argued for mitigation, citing his "difficult" home life and "good character" since the abuse. However, Judge David Richards rejected this argument, stating that Grossett "could not control his appetite or compulsion to abuse."

Grossett will serve half of a two-year sentence for one multiple incident count of indecent assault, followed by two-thirds of a consecutive four-year eight-month sentence for rape. He will also serve a concurrent 12-month sentence for another count of indecent assault.
