Southampton Dad Jailed for Making and Distributing Child Abuse Images
A Southampton father has been sentenced to 20 months in prison for creating and distributing child abuse images. Graham Andrew Davis, 28, pleaded guilty to making 17 still images and one moving image, and distributing still images categorized as category B.
Southampton Crown Court heard that Davis used various online aliases to engage in sexually explicit conversations with others, pretending to be a teenager himself. The court was informed that Davis had been watching pornography since the age of 13 and had been encouraged to expose himself online at that age but had refrained due to the lack of a webcam.
On one occasion, Davis sent images of a child to another user, claiming they were of himself. Judge Peter Henry emphasized the disturbing nature of the chats, stating that they were entirely sexual and involved Davis expressing desires to be sexually abused as a child.
While Davis acknowledged his actions were "disgusting and hurtful," he reportedly expressed a lack of understanding about how children are abused in the creation of these images and the market for such content.
Davis was described as a person of good character with no prior convictions. The court acknowledged his need for help and his remorse. Despite this, the severity of the offenses led to the 20-month prison sentence. Davis cried as he was sentenced and led from the courtroom.
