Taunton Sex Offender Back in Jail After Being Found With 13-Year-Old Boy

Graham Brown, 44, was arrested on January 28 after being found with a 13-year-old boy in a Taunton pub. This arrest came just three days after Brown was released from Exeter Prison, where he served a five-year sentence for breaching a Sexual Offender Prevention Order (SOPO).

Upon Brown's release, police implemented a series of restrictions to prevent him from associating with children and closely monitored his activities. Despite these measures, he was apprehended shortly after.

A police spokesman stated that Brown had been the subject of detailed discussions under the Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA), involving various agencies like the police, probation service, local authorities, and prison service.

The Crown Prosecution Service informed the County Gazette that Brown had a history of sexual offenses, including 14 convictions between 1981 and 2005, primarily related to indecent exposure or gross indecency.

Chief Superintendent Daimon Tilley highlighted the proactive efforts taken by the police and probation services, stating, "We put into place a number of arrangements in time for Mr Brown's release, in order to minimise the risk to other people. It was as a result of some excellent police and probation work that Mr Brown was arrested and put back before the courts."

On Friday, Brown was sentenced to 32 months in prison at Taunton Crown Court for breaching his SOPO by being in contact with the child.
