Jailed after being caught with 30,000 indecent images.

A 65-year-old man, Graham Kenrick, has lost his job and his wife after being found guilty of possessing over 30,000 indecent images of children.

Kenrick, of Brookwood Avenue, Eastleigh, had been downloading and viewing these images for over 10 years, despite knowing his actions were wrong, according to Southampton Crown Court.

Police seized his hard drive and computer towers in June 2017, uncovering video and images depicting the abuse of children as young as two months old.

Kenrick pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images, prohibited images, and extreme pornographic images. He was found to have 879 Category A still images and 18 films, 692 Category B still images and one video, and approximately 30,000 Category C still images and four videos.

He also possessed 15 films of women engaging in sexual activities with animals and a film of girls as young as five being raped.

The court heard that Kenrick had been self-harming and used the images for sexual gratification related to his self-harm, not the images themselves. He had worked for a charity for the past 15 years and lost his job and wife after 31 years of marriage due to his crimes.

The defense argued that Kenrick had sought help after his arrest and was remorseful for his actions. They emphasized his good character prior to the offenses and his current treatment for obsessive compulsive disorder and depressive disorder.

However, Judge Peter Henry emphasized the severity of the offense, stating that the viewing of such material directly contributes to child abuse and has devastating consequences for the victims.

Kenrick was sentenced to 12 months in prison. A Sexual Harm Prevention Order was also imposed, lasting for 10 years.
