Met Police Special Constable Hassnain Shahzad Sexually Assaults Schoolgirl in Tesco Queue

A Met Police special constable, Hassnain Shahzad, was sentenced to a suspended prison term after being convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old schoolgirl in a Tesco store queue.

The incident occurred on August 25, 2023, at a Bishopsgate Tesco. Shahzad, who served in the Met's East Basic Command Unit, initially touched the victim's bottom while queuing behind her and her mother. He later approached the girl again on the pavement outside the store, touching her once more.

CCTV footage captured Shahzad's actions, which were corroborated by the victim's account. Despite this evidence, Shahzad pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault.

The victim's mother praised her daughter's bravery throughout the ordeal and highlighted the profound impact the assault has had on her life. She emphasized the need for increased awareness and accountability regarding sexual violence against women and children.

Shahzad was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for 18 months, ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid work, and placed on the sex offenders register for seven years.

The victim's mother hopes that by speaking out, other victims will feel empowered to come forward and seek justice.
