Man Convicted for Creating and Sharing Child Abuse Images

A 27-year-old man, Hugh Nelson, has been convicted on 16 charges related to child sexual abuse offenses. Nelson, a resident of Egerton, Bolton, pleaded guilty to the charges after an investigation by Greater Manchester Police.

The investigation revealed that Nelson frequented online chatrooms where he engaged in the exchange and sale of computer-generated images depicting child sexual abuse. He also discussed child sexual abuse with other individuals in these chatrooms.

Nelson accepted requests from individuals to create explicit images featuring children being sexually and physically harmed. These images were either sold for money or shared freely with others. Some of the images were created using real photographs of children.

Nelson admitted to earning approximately £5,000 over an 18-month period by selling these images. Further investigation by Greater Manchester Police uncovered additional evidence, leading to 11 more charges against Nelson on February 27, 2024.

This new evidence revealed that Nelson had exchanged messages with three individuals on three separate occasions. These messages contained content capable of encouraging the rape of children under the age of 13.
