Man who raped an 11-year-old boy sees nothing wrong with engaging in sexual activity with children.

Man Sentenced for Rape of 11-Year-Old Boy, Claims Child Wanted It

Hughie Janes, 27, has been sentenced to an extended sentence for the rape of an 11-year-old boy in Carmarthenshire. The court heard that Janes had raped the boy while putting his hand over the child's mouth and then performed oral sex on him.

During the sentencing, the court revealed that Janes had expressed a disturbing belief that children of primary school age know what sexual activity is and "they want it". He maintains that he did not commit an offence and even believes he provided pleasure to the boy.

The pre-sentence report concluded that Janes lacks remorse or empathy and presents a significant risk of re-offending. Judge IWL Jones, recognizing the severity of the crime and the danger Janes poses, deemed an extended sentence necessary.

Janes was given a 12-and-a-half-year extended sentence, with six-and-a-half years in custody followed by a six-year extended license period. He will be a registered sex offender for life.
