Ian Cockbill Sentenced for Child Sex Abuse Material and Threatening to Commit Sexual Assault
Ian Cockbill, a 59-year-old resident of Wichenford, Worcester, was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court on January 22nd, 2025, for publishing obscene material and creating indecent images of a child.
Cockbill pleaded guilty to these charges stemming from an investigation by West Mercia Police's Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team (OCSET). The investigation revealed a category B indecent image of a child on Cockbill's phone, along with online conversations where he expressed his intent to commit sexual acts on a five-year-old child. These offenses occurred in April and June 2023.
Detective Constable Giuseppe Saladino from OCSET stated, "This was a sickening case, where Cockbill demonstrated a desire to sexually abuse and harm a very young child. Offenders like Cockbill have no place in our communities, and we will continue to identify and bring those intent on causing harm to justice."
As a result of his conviction, Cockbill has been placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years and subject to a sexual harm prevention order for the same duration.
