Portchester pervert, 71, spent Covid lockdown viewing 1.5m child abuse images.

Ian Wraith, a 71-year-old former timber merchant, has been jailed for three years for possessing and distributing over 1.5 million indecent images of children.

Wraith, who has a history of child sex offenses, was first jailed in 2015 for running a paedophile website based in India. Despite being released early from his sentence, he continued to access and share child abuse images.

Police discovered two hard drives, a laptop, and printed images of child abuse in his home, all categorized and easily accessible for his use. Wraith told police he felt nothing for the victims of abuse and believes everyone should have access to such images.

A psychiatric report found Wraith fit to plead, and his lawyer acknowledged his "entrenched and enduring addiction" to child abuse images. The judge described the case as "appalling" and "very serious," noting the "extraordinary" number of images found in Wraith's possession.

Wraith admitted to breaching a sexual harm prevention order, distributing and making indecent images of children. He will be required to comply with a sexual harm prevention order and register as a sex offender for life.
